The aim of the Society is to advance the education of the public by promoting the European study and understanding of English languages, literatures in English and cultures of English-speaking peoples.
The next ESSE Conference, ESSE 8, will take place at the Institute of English Studies (IES), University of London, from Tuesday 29 August to Saturday 2 September 2006. Information is available on the IES website.
